Adérito Vicente is a nuclear-policy scholar who holds a PhD in political and social sciences from the European University Institute in Florence. He currently is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at Lusíada University of Porto, a nonresident fellow at the Odesa Center for Nonproliferation and an external researcher at the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies in Brussels. Previously, he held academic positions as an adjunct professor in James Madison University’s MA program in Florence on EU policy studies, a visiting scholar at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, and a research associate at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies in Florence. He has also held other professional and diplomatic positions at the European Parliament, NATO, the European External Action Service, and the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Division of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has authored several scholarly publications that have appeared in Springer books, the Nonproliferation Review, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, and the reports of the Fondation pour la recherche stratégique, with a focus on European security, nuclear politics, and extended nuclear deterrence.
