João Nunes joined the Department of International Relations at Universidad Pontificia Comillas in January of 2024. Previously (2014-2023), he was a Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer at the University of York, United Kingdom. In York, he also co-directed the Centre for Global Health Histories, a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre. In 2010 he obtained a doctorate in International Politics from Aberystwyth University, United Kingdom, where he also completed a Master's degree in Security Studies. His first degree, in Political Science and International Relations, was completed at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal. From 2011 to 2014 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. In 2010 he was a visiting fellow at the Gothenburg Centre for Globalization and Development, Sweden. He is a collaborating professor at the University of São Paulo and the Federal University of Bahia, in Brazil.
