Director of the degree in Political Science and International Relations and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Beira Interior (UBI). He was a professor in the same areas at the University of Aveiro (UA) (2017-2023), the University of Minho (2013-2017), the University of Coimbra (2016-2023), and the ISCIA Institute (2005 -2016). Researcher at the IPRI-NOVA, an academic research institute founded by the NOVA University of Lisbon. He is a founding member of the China Observatory, auditor of the National Defense Course (2013-2014), member of the the Association of Chinese Political Studies (ACPS) and the Portuguese Association of Political Science (APCP). Member of the Academic Council of the Journal of Analysis and International Studies Tempo Exterior (Spain). The main research topics are the socio-economic and political dimensions of contemporary China, in particular the issue of the Taiwan Strait. He is the author of academic articles, text chapters, and opinion pieces in the national press. Among other works he is co-editor of the book BRICS and the New International Order (Kaleidoscope, 2015), co-editor of the works Role and Impact of Tourism in Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation (IGI Global, 2020), Xi Jinping – The Rise of China's New Helmsman: Man, Politics and the World (Sílabas & Desafios, 2021) and CHIBÉRICA - Visiones Ibéricas de China Contemporánea (Editorial Popular) (with Xulio Ríos).
