Historian, with a PhD in Sociology by NOVA University of Lisbon. Integrated Researcher at IPRI-NOVA and full professor at the Department of Political Studies, NOVA FCSH, Diogo was Professor of the Vasco da Gama Chair at the European University Institute, Florence (2000-2008). He was also visiting professor at Yale, Brown, King’s College, EHESS, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He was supervisor or external/ co-supervisor of twenty doctoral thesis, and author or co-editor of thirty books. He has also been working as editor or co-editor of two book series in Portuguese on history and social sciences, in a total of more than fifty books.
