3rd Webinar of the Latin Group of Polar Sciences – Gruppo Latino di Scienze Polari
The Portuguese Polar Program: Advancing Research in Extreme Environments
July 3rd, 2025, 3:00 PM (Lisbon Time – 4:00 PM CET)

Polar research in Portugal began in the 1970s with the work of oceanographer Luiz Saldanha. The research conducted took place in both Antarctica and the Arctic. Since then, Portuguese polar science has continued to grow and make its mark internationally. The creation of the PROPOLAR polar programme in 2007 is proof of this progress.
In this webinar, we will explore the work carried out by PROPOLAR and delve into Portuguese polar science within specific contexts.
