2nd Webinar of the Latin Group of Polar Sciences – Gruppo Latino di Scienze Polari
España y la diplomacia polar
18 June 2025, 15:00 (CET)
Spain has been an Observer Member of the Arctic Council since 2006 and a Party to the Antarctic Treaty since 1982. In the 21st century, the Polar Regions have drawn growing attention as they experience the direct effects of climate change, with wide-reaching global consequences. Climate change has also become a driver of increased geopolitical competition, reinforcing the need for multilateralism and effective diplomacy. This presentation and discussion aim to highlight the significance of polar diplomacy from the Spanish perspective.
