Call for papers
R:I special issue on 20 years of East Timor's independence
27 | June | 2022

A Call for Papers is open for the special issue on the 20th anniversary of East Timor's independence, to be published by the journal R:I Relações Internacionais edited by IPRI-NOVA. This thematic dossier is intended to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Timor’s independence. It also represents an opportunity to draw attention to the importance of international norms and that military annexations against the identity will of peoples seldom succeed. With this dossier, we shall endeavour to problematize the importance of Timor's invention for international relations, at national, regional and global levels. The dossier aims to convey a comprehensive view of Timor, both in a historical perspective, up to its self-determination, or, in a more contemporary perspective, of its independence to this day, in its various dimensions. Comparative, interdisciplinary and critical approaches are encouraged.

The papers must be original and offer a relevant contribution to the area, and may be submitted in either Portuguese or English, until the 27th of June 2022. The paper proposals must be forwarded simultaneously to the email addresses of the dossier’s coordinators, Pedro Emanuel Mendes, IPRI-NOVA, (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and Rui Feijó, CES-University of Coimbra ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), and to the journal’s address (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

The publication of the papers follows the procedures of the journal R:I Relações Internacionais, being subject to the peer review process. Publication standards can be found here.
